A panel comprised of Legal and Legislative Committee Members will be presenting a review of 2022’s legal and legislative updates, providing a forecast of potential changes and updates in 2023, and identifying useful employment law resources all with the goal of assisting HR Professionals with remaining compliant and being aware of future regulations and requirements. 

An overview of the topics include:

• Reviewing and addressing important Supreme Court Cases and how it affects HR
• Changes to employment law in 2022 
• Forecast of 2023 legal and legislative updates/trends
• Resources (newsletters, websites, etc.) for HR to utilize in order to stay up-to-date

Meet the panelists:

Josh Matthews, PHR – Josh is foremost a husband and father of two children, which he will say is his most important job. He also currently serves as the Manager of Organizational and Leadership Development for CommunityAid, Inc. where he works with the HR team and company leadership to implement development initiatives and training while also focusing on compliance and risk management. Josh currently serves a dual role with HRPCPA as the Vice President and Legal and Legislative Director. He also volunteers with the Brethren in Christ Church Conference as a member of the MMRT (Ministerial Misconduct Response Team) where he is working with other volunteers to establish compliant and effective investigation methods. Josh has served in a variety of HR roles such as HR Director, Manager, Generalist, Recruiter and more within a variety of industries such as healthcare, automotive, staffing, risk management, and non-profits. 

Evangeline Unti, SPHR – Vangie Unti has worked in the Human Resources field for over 20 years, serving in both private and public sector organizations. Most recently, Ms. Unti has specialized in the K-12 public education realm working collaboratively with school boards, educators, and support staff to champion staff and student development. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from The University of Michigan, a Master’s degree in Organizational Development and Leadership from Shippensburg University, and a Senior Professional in Human Resources credential. Prior to her current role as Director of Human Resources for the West Shore School District, Ms. Unti also served at Northern York County School District and Cumberland Valley School District. She supports several local university education preparation programs through service on panels and workshops to inform upcoming educators on workforce readiness topics in the area of K-12 public education. Ms. Unti is deeply committed to ongoing collaborations with the Pennsylvania Department of Education and Capital Area Intermediate Unit to address the areas of teacher shortages and diversity initiatives within the field of public education.

Katherine English – Katherine is the President & Owner of Advocacy Claims Management, LLC, utilizing two decades of business management success in human resources, operational risk management and refinement, customer service and sales training, insurance, fleet, and legal management to advocate for her clients, their employees, and customers.  She helps her clients protect their interests and increase the value of their most important assets; their employees and customers. Katherine is also the owner of Rock Hill Heritage Farm of Hershey, advocating to move citizens, businesses, and the community beyond sustainability. She is a public speaker, regenerative farmer, and permaculture teacher.

Catherine Walters - Catherine provides exclusive management-side labor and employment services for employers of all sizes, including privately and publicly held companies, government contractors, institutions of higher education, health care providers, trade associations and other non-profit organizations.  Her practice spans an array of industries, including financial and banking, manufacturing, defense contracting, education, health care, professional services, insurance, construction, technology, retail, real estate, transportation, restaurant and hospitality.  Catherine’s extensive experience and collaborative skills enable her to partner with her clients to develop creative, practical, business-oriented solutions to their legal challenges.  Catherine graduated from the Dickinson School of Law.

Diane Dietrich - Diane has a degree from Cornell University in Labor Relations and has worked for both public and private sector employers for 20+ years, managing human resources. Her experience includes negotiating labor contracts, handling employment law claims, unemployment claims, mediations, and arbitrations.
