Topic: Eight Dimensions of Wellness
Session Overview:
This session explores the eight dimensions of wellness and their role in supporting whole-person health. Participants will learn how emotional, physical, social, intellectual, spiritual, environmental, financial, and occupational wellness are interconnected and how strengths or imbalances in one area can affect overall well-being. Through reflection and self-assessment, learners will identify personal wellness priorities and develop practical, SMART goals to support sustainable behavior change and long-term health.
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Identify the eight dimensions of wellness.
- Explain how the dimensions work together to support whole-person health.
- Reflect on personal strengths and gaps across the wellness dimensions.
- Recognize signs of balance and imbalance and strategies to improve wellness.
- Create a SMART goal focused on one or two wellness dimensions.
Speaker Overview:

Nicole Cassel is a graduate of Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and Corporate Communications. She later received a Master of Education in Training and Development from Penn State Harrisburg. Nicole is currently a Senior Health Education Consultant with Capital Blue Cross, where she has worked since May 2020. In this role, she partners closely with employer groups to promote Capital Blue Cross’s health promotion and wellness services.
Prior to joining Capital Blue Cross, Nicole served as People Site Manager at Magellan Health in Harrisburg, where she focused on employee engagement and organizational culture. Before that, she spent eight and a half years with PennAg Industries Association, overseeing member insurance programs and managing in-house human resources functions. During her tenure at PennAg, she earned her Society for Human Resource Management - Certified Professional (SHRM‑CP) credential as well as her Pennsylvania Health and Life Insurance Producer license.
Nicole is actively engaged in her community and profession. She is the co-lead of Capital’s Women’s Impact Network (WIN) employee resource group, a member of the HRP of CPA Communications and Membership Committees, a Big Brothers Big Sisters Beyond School Walls mentor, a member of the Susquehanna Township Health Board, and serves on the Penn State Harrisburg Alumni Society Alumni Engagement Committee.
A dedicated health and wellness advocate, Nicole holds multiple fitness certifications, is a certified running coach and personal trainer, and has taught a variety of fitness classes at local gyms for more than 20 years. She currently teaches classes through Susquehanna Township’s Parks and Recreation Department. In her free time, Nicole enjoys running, biking, hiking, and spending time outdoors with her husband, Tim.
